Google has launched Google Search Console Insights , which is touted as “an easier way to understand how your content resonates with readers.” The information in the new feature can help you determine which content is successful for you and what kind of content you should be producing more of in the future. In this article, we will tell you what this new feature is, how to access your reports, what it looks like, and what information you can learn from Insights.

Google Search Console Insights

Google Search Console Insights is designed for publishers and content creators and “can help them understand how audiences discover their site’s content and what resonates with their audiences,” according to Google. It uses data from both the Google Search Console and Google Analytics.

Google first launched a beta of this new “experience” in 2020 , and gave limited access to certain content creators to debug it and provide Google with feedback.

The new feature is available now to all with verified profiles on the Search Console. You might need to perform Google Search Console verification in order to access the insights.

Information You Can See in Insights

There are five main questions that Google helps you answer with this new feature:

  1. What are your best-performing pieces of content?
  2. How are your new pieces of content performing?
  3. How do people discover your content across the web?
  4. What people search for on Google before they visit your content?
  5. Which article refers users to your website and content?

How to Access Your Google Search Console Insights

There are a few different ways you can find your reports.

  • You can see the reports at search.Google.com/search-console/insights.
  • Or, click “Search Console Insights” at the top of the Search Console’s Overview page. (As shown in the photo below.)
  • If you are in the iOS Google app, tap “Search Console Insights” in the account menu after tapping your profile picture. This option will also soon be in the Android app.

Are You Missing Data?

If you are missing data in your reports, it means that your Google Search Console and Google Analytics properties are not linked properly. If this is the case, you need to link (or associate) your GA account with your Google Search Console account in order to see your insights and get the full experience. This is the best way to see how your content is performing. For now, this new feature only support Google Analytics Universal Analytics properties. Their ID all starts with “UA-”. However, in the future it will also work with Google Analytics 4, the latest version of Google Analytics

How to Use This New Feature

Google Search Console Insights provides you with more data, more views, and additional ways to see and understand how your content is performing. The way Google has linked data from Google Analytics and the Google Search Console is extremely convenient. Check out your data in the new experience to learn more about your content performance and to get more ideas for new content for your company!
